This bag will be available among the prizes at this years Faster Mustache 24 hour Race here in Atlanta Ga.  It's kind of a radical departure from what I've done before.  The bag is the first of it's kind.  It's made from roughly 90% recycled materials.  As with all my bags it's also 100% vegan.  The only stuff that's not reclaimed is the bottom, the velcro and the suspension components.  There's an amazing amount of vinyl advertising thrown away ever day.  It's a crime that we don't often recycle it into useful products.  I think that this is a step in the right direction.  If you want a aerial view of the Atlanta Freeway system on your back, get ready to race.

This isn't a bag that I made.  Jason got it cheap from Chrome because it's a little older and it was missing the stock strap.  He wanted something a little heavier duty than what would have come with it so he got in touch with me.  This is just my normal suspensions system replete with bagete straps, and all on a smaller bag.

Patrick really wanted to be seen on his bike, and I think that he might be liable to cause accidents by blinding the drivers with this daring bag.  Just yellow and black could be a little bit bumble bee, but with the pink, I think it's hot.  Enjoy.

We like to give her shit about the anarchist color choice, but truth is red and black go together.  I wore a bag that looked just like this for at least a year, and I like the look.  I'm sure I'll get some more picts of her wearing it later.

Note: a week after she got this bag, Diana got hit by a car, and the poor thing fell on her back.  The road burned a hole in the back flap, but everything held together, and it prevented her from having a any more road rash.  When I get a hold of it to fix the hole, I'll take some pictures.  I didn't realize that my bags counted as safety gear too.  Get well Diana.

This is JP's huge bag.  He's a designer who until a few weeks ago lived her in the Atl.  He just moved to NYC to pursue his fortune there. 

He wanted a bag to memorialize his time here in Atlanta.  JP did all the design work on the flap, and a local screen printing collective did the printing. 

After that it was up to me to design a bag big enough to fit his portfolio and still reasonable to wear.  This is the final result.  In the picture at the left you get a good idea of how big it is when I set it next to my everyday bag. 

There's a few features worth mentioning, new stuff.  JP's calls this shock web weave y see above a stuff and go loop.  The idea is that you can stuff your winter gloves in and go. 

Another notable feature is the off kilter 3d pocket and flap straps.  This will allow the wearer to obtain stuff from that pocket with the bag on and without opening the flap significantly. 

This is one serious bag, I hope you enjoy.  I know you'll be the talk of the town even in a town as big as NYC.

Michael's bag is similar to Jon's bag in that it's got a single front pocket and a u lock loop in place of the other one.  As you can see Michael opted for the fancy transit screen, and some of the vinyl from the decomissioned Moda transportation exhibit.

This is one of the first bags that I've made with with the fancy new vinyl.  I like how the kite turned out on the inside bottom of this bag. Also of note is the ulock holster on the front where the second pocket usually goes.

I'm really pleased with how this second prototype turned out.  I definitely think that the flap top is really the way to go.  This particular bag is even more recycled than usual as all the reflector striping on the outside is from an old flagger sign a friend found.  This bag has all the bells and whistles that I'd probably offer in a backpack.  Bottom and side compression straps, side pockets, double three d pockets on the front with a mini u lock holster built in. 

Additionally there's two 2d pockets on the inside, and the suspension system has all the usual adjustment points.  I've patterned this design now, and I'm in the process of working up pricing for it.  I think that it'll probably be more expensive than the regular messenger bags as it requires more materials, and I think it takes longer to make.  If you like what you see keep an eye on the site. When I get the reviews in and make adjustments I think it may be ready for prime time.  I'll let you know.

This bag is going out the the SOPO Broken Hearts and Bicycle Parts race next Saturday here in Atlanta.  SOPO for anyone who doesn't know about it is a really great community bike shop located in the East Atlanta Village.   Basically the folks over at SOPO can teach you how to fix your bike, and you can find lots of great parts and tools in the shop.  The SOPO Broken Hearts and Bicycle Parts race is a yearly benifit race.  If you're in town, it'll be the place to be 02/16/08.  And if you're fast enough you can score this bag.

This is a new bag to replace Jay's old one.  It's got two sets of compression straps, and an x strap which we ended up padding using part of his old bag.   I also used part of Rebecca's old bag to build a multi pocketed front pocket for him.  You can't see it in any of these photos, but it's there under the flap.  Finally last but not least we had a SOPO screen so that everyone can screen SOPO sheep on all their stuff.  Keep an eye out, I'm going to be making a similar bag for SOPO's Broken Hearts and Bicycle Parts Race in February.

I just got a whole bunch of vinyl printed with some really neat designs that was formerly part of an art exhibition at the Museum of Design Atlanta.  Thanks goes out to Ansley Whipple their directorof operations for keeping these goodies from the trash bin, and to Christopher Rampton for referring her to me.  Let me know if some part of these looks like something that you might want either on the outside of you gear or on the inside.  To give you some perspective these pictures cover each show around a 10' x 20' space, so the component images are all pretty large.  The last two pictures are of smaller banners.  All of this is printed on 16 - 18oz vinyl so it should hold up well.

Here is my new prototype backpack design.  It has a roll top at this point, but I'm going to be offering a flap top as well.  This one is a little smaller than I think I'm going to end up making them generally.  I'm sending it out for testing and suspect that there will be at least one more design revision before I start generally selling them. This is Dave's new handlebar/hip bag.  I put a clear map pocket on the front so he'll be able to find his way.  Also if you pull the strap out of it's pocket this bag can convert into a regular hip bag.

This bag is much wider at the bottom than any bag I've ever made. I think David is planning on smuggling small children. He also wanted a extra long flap and some custom stitching of the F holes that you see in the picture at the left, along with a clear pouch for his tail light to go in and an x strap so that he could carry all of it without breaking his back.  Well maybe it won't help that much, but it will help.  Enjoy.

O, I almost forgot, If you like this color forget it.  David Made the color by dying a bunch of my red material using some magic chemicals.   Serious DIY cred.

This is my suspension system sewn onto a Manhattan Portage bag.   For some reason even though they make great bags, MP doesn't focus on the straps very much.  This bag originally came with a single simple strap, and it didn't have a sternum strap.  Anyway, Daniel wanted a little more robust solution, so I made him a new set of straps.  If you've got a bag that's otherwise good, but needs new straps I'd be happy to sew them for you.  I'm all about recycling, and in my view it's better to fix a bag that's already made and just needs tweaked than to make whole new one out of new materials.

Byron wanted a bag that would work both as a handlebar bag and as a hip bag.  I made a little pouch that the hip bag strap can fit in when the bag is in use as a handlebar bag, and added ladder lock mounts for the handlebars themselves.  This particular bag also has a small side release clip instead of the usual velcro closure.  So if you prefer to carry our map and CO2 on your bars instead of on your hip, I'm your girl.

So here it is the bag that I've made to sponsor the upcoming 24 hour race.

Have you ever not wanted to bring your messenger bag, but then realized that the place you were going required you to bring shoes other than your SPD cleats?  Well the lumbar pack is for you.  It's designed with just enough interior room for your shoes, your cards and a flat kit.  Perfect for taking your flip flops to the gym.  It rides low on your back, and there is a slot between the back pad and the bag for your mini u lock.

Ever wonder what your messenger bag looks like before it becomes a messenger bag?  I just got in a big black truck tarp and I thought I'd post a couple of photos so that you could see.  When I get the tarps they're big enough to cover a whole semi truck and they generally need quite a bit of cutting to get them ready to cut into bags.

This is a lumbar pack for my friend Wes down in New Orleans.  It's got compression straps and a front pocket as well as a slot to hold a mini u lock comfortably between the main pack and a double layer of closed cell backpad.  It's designed to hold a pair of bike or low top street shoes comfortably.

Hip bags for 24 hour race

Hey, are you racing in the upcoming FM 24 Hour Urban Relay?  If you aren't you should.  No where else do you get to willingly take that kind of beating.  I know that I'll be there.  And I'll be bringing with me five hip bags and a tricked out custom messenger bag for the winners.  The messenger bag isn't finished yet, but the hip bags are here.  They make me a little weak in the knees.  It's like a chorus line of sexy.

Ready or not here's the flagger bag.  I knew that sooner or latter someone was going to bring me part of an old traffic control sign and want it incorporated into a bag.  This is a good example of the kind of customization that I can do for you.  I'm not the artistic type so the design is up to you and your artist friends, but if you bring me a unique piece of fabric like this one or like the one that I incorporated into Brett's bag, I can sew it into the flap design.

This bag also illustrates another optional feature that I haven't talked about too much here.  I can add an extra set of receptor clips above the flap straps so that you can double them back and use the flap straps to carry extra gear like a jacket when your bag is really full.  Also pictured are the bottom compression straps and double 3d pockets.

This is the bag that I made for Brett.  It's got three layers of fabric on most of it.  There's truck tarp, cordura, and then dacron sail cloth that Brett brought me.  That's where the 791 came from.  I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

There are compression straps on the top sides and the bottom, and snaps in addition to velcro on the pockets.  Also if you look closely at the front open pict to the left of this text, there are extra clips near the flap closure straps so that you can close the flap just relying on the velcro and use the clips for a jacket for instance.  Finally kyle got a fancy flat steel D ring.   Kyles good at lookin tough huh.  Also a public thanks goes out to Kyle for all of the design opinions that he's contributed to this project.  Thanks Kyle, you are the best.

Is it me or are those the first gen bags getting a new life as motorcycle saddlebags?  These aren't for sale.  If you some saddlebags for your two wheeler, we can talk about it.  I would make them a little differently than this for a customer.

Here's a post for just the ladies.  The problem with messanger bags is that they aren't designed by or for people with boobs.  It's not really a problem for those of us that have pretty small breasts, but some folks like my friend Olaava have a hard time getting the straps so that they are comfy.  I can move around the straps on a bag to fit your individual anatomy, and riding style.  In Olaava's case we moved the sternum strap's attatchment point about four inches in and to the bottom of her bag so that it could provide some back support instead of being awkward and crappy.  Let me know if you have a hard time getting bags to fit in front, and I'll make it happen.  BTW.  This bag would go for 135 if I'd made it for you.  It's got a new fancy two pocket design on the front.

One these hot summer days sometimes it seems like lugging around a big messenger bag is a little too much, but on the other hand, what do you carry your dancing shoes in to go out to the club without a pack.  Solution, lumbar pack.  It's just big enough to comfortably fit a pair of bike shoes, and it doesn't make you look like a chump.  This one is already sold, but I can make more and they are 85 bucks.

Indy Craft Experiance

So I went out to the indy craft experience today.  Talked to a lot of folks, took some orders and sold a little bit of stuff.  I think that I'm going to start collaborating with some of the indy graphic design folks, or at least linking their pages so that when you buy a bag from me you will have a number of choices of designers that are willing to do custom flaps.  Keep an eye on my links for new designers that I'm working with.  Thanks to the 11:11 Tea house and Ladyshop for the space in their booth at the fair.

Heres the second gen bag.  It will go for 99 dollars without any frills.  3d outer pockets and other custom goodies will cost more.   The top side is longer the bottom side is shorter,  there's padding on both sides of the main strap, and there are baguette straps as I demo in the second photo.  Basically it fits much better, and it can accommodate long or awkward loads.

This is the first bag that I made with the new commercial sewing machine.  It's design isn't quite as good as the second gen bags and they have since become saddlebags for my motorcycle.

The second Gen bags will start at 99 bucks and go up from there depending on customization. 

The basic model will have two interior flat pockets and a water bottle holder.  as well as a back pocket to insert a pad. 

Packs with more pocket on the outside will cost more.  Call or email me with your needs.
